Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas!

We've been having a very nice weekend together as a family. Both my dad and Gordon had the whole weekend off so we've been hanging out. Christmas eve brought visitors from Rhode Island...and dinner. Gordon's family has a tradition of eating meat pie and potatoes for dinner on Christmas eve so that's what we did. Then we all got fancied up for church. We had been working for over a month of preparing for the service...and it went pretty smoothly. There were about 100 people there. Then we came home and Geoffrey played with Memere and Papa while I finished wrapping the gifts.

Christmas morning we had to run up the stairs after Geoffrey so he would get to the tree before the rest of us. Usually he delays going upstairs but this year he actually new it was Christmas and that there was a tree full of fun waiting for him. So, we stalled him long enough for everyone to get up and for the coffee to be put on...and then the grand entrance! He was so excited about all the packages...we had a tough time making them last all day.

We did some presents and our stockings while Gordon's parents were here...then they left to head to MA to see some more fam. Then my sister arrived around 1...that lasted about 5 minutes...he wanted to open more but we still had a final round to do. So, we stalled him with puzzles and TV. He must have watched that "Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas" a dozen or more times this last week.

After cleaning up the living room and sun room (and getting the food going...) my aunt, uncle, and two cousins arrived. Plus, my dad had invited one of his employees...so there were 10 of us around the table. Geoffrey ate some carrots and that was about it...we stalled him once again with that Mickey movie so the rest of us could enjoy our meal. Then, hurray...more gifts. We had a great time sitting around the tree and opening gifts. More puzzles...candy...family photos...etc....more puzzles!

Geoffrey hadn't slept all day since waking up at 6:45 a.m. so we was pretty wiped out...and eventually fell asleep in my lap around 9:15 p.m. Everyone else was out in the kitchen playing apples to apples...but G and I just snoozed. It was a great way to end a fantastic day. He really loves all of his puzzles...all 10 of them. And last night we watched one of his new DVDs...101 Dalmatians...classic!

Geoffrey and I are headed to Rhode Island tomorrow so mama and Memere can go see Wicked! Hopefully on Wednesday I'll be able to upload some pictures. I hope everyone is having a great holiday season...and enjoying time with lots of family. Hugs for a fantastic last few days of 2009.
